Application to receive educational GI Bill benefits
will be completed with the assistance of the
Veterans Coordinator on campus.

Dependents (Chapter 35): If you are an unmarried, full-time student between the ages of 18 and 22, and your veteran parent died from a service connected disability incurred or aggravated before August 13, 1981, you may be eligible for additional funds through the REPS program. If these criteria apply to you, bring it to our attention.

If you live in Washington State and are the child of a 100% permanently disabled veteran 18-25 years of age, or if you are the veteran's spouse and it is within 10 years of the veteran's 100% permanent designation, see the Veterans Coordinator on campus for a possible tuition and fees waiver.

Chapter 30 (New Montgomery GI Bill - joined July 1, 1985 or after) and Chapter 32 (VEAP - joined between January 1, 1977 and June 30, 1985): If you have never applied for the GI Bill, a copy of your last DD 214 (long form - member #4) is necessary. If you wish to record your DD 214, please visit the Spokane County Courthouse - Auditor's Office, Room 200; 1116 W. Broadway. There is no cost involved.

$600 "buy-up" (Chapter 30 only - joined 7/1/1985 or after): If you have contributed an extra $600 to your Montgomery GI Bill it is essential to bring in the actual receipt (not the contract) that provides proof of your contribution. If you have made payments it is essential that you bring in all LES statements showing your contributions. The VA will be unable to allow you the extra $150 per month without these receipts.

Chapter 30 "Rollover" (joined before 1977): DD 214 forms are also necessary (see Chapter 30 above). You will be allowed benefits for your dependents. You must know the Social Security numbers of all your claimed dependents and dates of marriage, birth, divorce, and death events. Children 18-22 years of age may be claimed as dependents if they are attending school full-time and are unmarried.

Chapter 1606 (Guard/Reserve): If you are electing to receive benefits under this chapter you will need to obtain form 2384 (Notice of Basic Eligibility) from your unit. Please return the 2384 form and VA application to SCC's Veterans Affairs office. Your unit is not responsible for your VA application.

Chapter 1607 (Guard/Reserve - served at least 90 days or more of continuous active duty - not for training): If you are electing to receive benefits under this chapter, please bring a copy of your DD214, deployment orders and (if applicable) a copy of your education kicker.

Chapter 31 (Vocational Rehabilitation): SCC must receive authorization form 28-1905 from your Vocational Consultant before you may register. Please check with our office (533-7027) at least one week before your registration appointment to confirm we have received your authorization. If it has not been received, it will be your responsibility to notify your Vocational Consultant and obtain the required form.
