What to do if you have a problem
Academic or Personal Concerns
What can I do if I am having trouble in a class?
- Consult your instructor: Instructors can offer advice or assistance with most academic
situations.
- Meet with a tutor or join a study group: Classmates or instructors may have information
on when and where study groups meet. If you cannot find one, form your own. Free tutoring
assistance is available through the Tutoring Center
located in Building 1, Room 1220B.
- Consult a counselor: A counselor can help determine the appropriate course of action
needed to overcome academic difficulties. Appointments can be made through the Counseling Center located in Building 15. Counselors
are available on a drop-in basis Monday through Friday.
What can I do if I am having a personal dilemma?
- Consult a counselor: Counselors are available Monday through Friday to help with
personal concerns that may arise while pursuing an education. Such help may include a
referral to a community agency that may be able provide further assistance. Refer to the Counseling/Advising topic.
Standards of Conduct for Students
As a student in the Community Colleges of Spokane, you have certain legal rights that
are important and that should be respected. Likewise, you have responsibilities pertaining
to conduct as a CCS student. The CCS Selected Rules, Regulations, and Policies Concerning
Student Conduct booklet is available in the Vice Presidents Office, in the Learning
Resource Center, or in any Dean's office. Note: The Standards
of Conduct for Students are also available online.
Student Complaints
Complaints concerning faculty or staff can usually be resolved by contacting the
involved party. If this does not help, the next step is to contact the appropriate
Department Chair or the Dean of the division.
