Writers on the Storm

Writers on the Storm became a club in the 1991-92 school year. The goal of Writers on the Storm is to expand experience and understanding of the media. We visit local media, meet with others who are involved with media, and attend events concerned with media. Our major event during our first year was a media forum. We invited members of the local media and local political leaders to discuss their relationship in a panel discussion. The next year, Writers on the Storm continued to tour local media and organized another media forum. This forum's focus was on censorship. We have participated in events sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalism, including winning two awards. Writers on the Storm also sponsored a very successful voter registration drive, enabling over 200 students, faculty, and staff to register for fall elections.
