Skills USA
Skills USA is one of the largest clubs on campus, and membership is open to anyone enrolled
in ten or more credits at SCC. Skills USA is a leadership and skill development club that caters
mainly to vocational, industrial, technical, and health science occupation students. Skills USA
provides students in these areas with the opportunity to develop leadership and
communication skills in their areas of study through one national and three state
competitions such as prepared speech, extemporaneous speech, job skill demonstration,
opening and closing ceremonies, job interview, and parliamentary procedure. Leadership in
each skill area is represented in over 33 different competitions including automotive
technology, heavy equipment repair, electronics, fire science, cosmetology,
carpentry, technical drafting, architectural drafting, and precision machining (just to name
a few).
