Ag. Technology Club
The Ag. Technology Club
was chartered in 1972 to further the development of confident, competent,
agricultural leaders. Our students participate in a wide variety of
community activities including Ag Expo, Farm Forum, the Farwest Fertilizer
Convention, and Spokane’s Model Farm. We also participate in several campus
activities throughout the year. Perhaps our greatest asset is our
leadership program. We are the official club of the Postsecondary
Agricultural Student Organization (PAS), an organization encompassing all
aspects of agriculture: production agriculture, ag mechanics, horticulture,
and natural resources. The organization’s motto, “Uniting Education and
Industry in Agriculture”, is carried out through college bowl, interview
contests, and various production contests (including crops, soils, animal
production, mechanics, greenhouse/floriculture and landscaping). The
organization is sponsored by agriculture companies and educational
associations including John Deere, Archer Daniels Midland, the National
Association of Ag Educators, and the National FFA Alumni. A state
competition determines the winners who qualify to go on to the national
conference to compete. The club provides most of the funding needed for
travel. PAS is an excellent way to meet prospective employers as well as
learn more about ourselves and the world we live in. Membership is free and
open to SCC students interested in participating in our many social, civic
and leadership events.
