Spokane Community College Media Services has added valuable new resume software to all of its open lab computers and student check-out laptops!

Computers: 30 Windows computers are available in the Media Lab for general use by students on a first-come, first-served basis. All machines have high-speed internet access are loaded with the Microsoft Office suite of programs, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. These PC's also have Autocad, Respondus lockdown browser and other course related software applications. The computers have network access to black & white and color laser printers. Students are requested to provide their valid student ID cards to use the computers.

Study rooms: Six study/viewing rooms are available for students who wish to watch media presentations together. All are equipped with 42" HDTV's, Blu-Ray, DVD and VHS players. Students may also project their laptop computer image on the HDTV via a supplied cable.

Instructional Media Lab: The Media Lab within Media Services is devoted to providing students, faculty, and staff access to technology-based learning and assessment resources. The lab consists of the Media Pit large group media viewing area, a 30 station computer lab, service desk, media equipment check-out, and a number of small group study/preview rooms. The lab also includes the testing center, comprised of a 20 seat room for pencil and paper exams, a 12 seat online testing lab for high-stakes certification exams and distance learning, and the assessment testing area for college and program entrance exams. Lab hours are available online.

The Presentation Zone: A semi-enclosed 300-square foot presentation area designed for the development and practice of group presentations is available for teams of students who need a place to hone their group projects. This area includes a PC computer with Microsoft PowerPoint, a media projector, projection screen, white board, study table, and chairs and sofa seating for six. Use of the Presentation Zone is scheduled by appointment at our front counter.

Internet Access: The Media Lab provides 30 Internet stations for students to use on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional Internet stations are available in the Library. Email access is available only with private student accounts. A printer is networked to the Internet stations for the students to use. Students are requested to provide their valid student ID cards to use the Internet stations. Our entire building serves as a Wi-Fi hot spot. Convenient study tables with nearby electrical outlets in the lab make it a quiet and comfortable place to surf the Web.

Media Equipment Check Out: Camcorders, digital cameras, laptop computers, media projectors and other equipment are available to students for 48 hour checkout on a first-come, first-served basis. Equipment check out is for course related projects only. Students must provide a student ID along with the course, project and instructor name.

Read the introductory tabs and then complete and submit the form to request proctor services at Spokane Community College's media services testing lab.

  • Location: Proctored examinations are administered in the LRC's Media Lab, located in Building 16 on the SCC campus.
  • Exam Types: SCC will only administer written or Web-based exams. No computerized exam that requires downloading of software will be administered.
  • Fee: Please note that there is a $25.00 (cash or check only) service charge for each exam proctored. (The service charge does not apply to CCS exams or WAOL exams as long as the course is offered through SCC or SFCC.)

  • Please submit your request at least two days in advance or it is highly likely that you will not receive a confirmation email before you arrive for the exam.
  • Exams are returned to the college or university by our staff. Please plan to take your exam in plenty of time before your program's due date.
  • Testers must arrange to have the exam sent to our location from the college or university offering the exam.
  • Testers must provide a contact (instructor or distance learning office) telephone number in case of problems at the time of the exam

Before you come in for the test, confirm the exam has arrived at our center by calling (509) 533-8085.


Exam proctoring will take place in the Learning Resources Building (Bldg. 16) in the Media Lab (Room 127) which is directly across the hall from the Library.

Driving Directions

Please reference our campus map.

  • Take Freya exit (283B) off of I-90 and turn north.
  • Follow Freya to Mission (1 mile). The college is on the corner of Mission and Greene St. (Freya turns into Greene St. at Mission).
  • From Greene St., turn into the driveway parallel to the clock tower.
  • The road comes to a "T." Building 16 (Learning Resources Center) is to the right and faces west.

Arriving for the Exam

  • Picture ID is required before taking each exam.
  • Personal items, including cell phones, are not allowed in the student's possession during the exam. We will provide storage for these items.

Directions to the Testing Center

  • Testing takes place in the Media Services Lab in Building 16, the Learning Resources Center (a.k.a. the Library).
  • From I-90, take Freya Street exit (283B) and turn North. Follow North Freya Street approximately one mile to East Mission Avenue. (North Freya Street becomes North Greene Street at East Mission Avenue) The College is located at the intersection of East Mission Avenue and North Greene Street. To gain access to the entrance to the college, remain on North Greene Street, crossing East Mission Avenue at the stoplight.
  • Off of North Greene Street, turn into the driveway parallel to the clock tower. The driveway comes to a "T." Building 16 (the Learning Resources Center) is to the right and faces west. You may park in the large parking lot in front of the building, but you must come into the center to get a temporary parking permit to place on your rearview mirror. Parking tickets may be issued to vehicles without the required permit.
  • FYI: The temperature in the building occasionally fluctuates, so you may want to dress in layers. For instance, an extra sweater or sweatshirt that you can put on or take off for comfort.

Students may request proctoring services using our online Lab Proctor/Testing Accommodations Request.

Media Services also oversees placement testing for enrolling students. More information about the tests, procedures, and requirements can be found on the Placement Testing web page.


The Testing Center in the Learning Resources Center offers students and community members the opportunity for certification through examination. Certification is a way of demonstrating a person's expertise in a particular field.

The center is an authorized PSI LaserGrade, Comira, and Castle Worldwide testing center.

Media Equipment Checkout: Media equipment such as video camcorders, media projectors and laptops are available for faculty use on a limited basis from Media Services. Media equipment can be checked out at the Media Lab desk at (509) 533-8085.
