Graduation Petition Form Required

You MUST complete the Graduation Petition Form, one per program, to determine if you are eligible to obtain your certificate or diploma and to participate in commencement. Please complete it and submit it two to three quarters before completion of your program.

You can access the Graduation Petition Form at:

There is no additional cost associated with the commencement ceremonies. All costs have already been included in your paid tuition.

Honor Cords

Honor cords are given out at the same time students pick up their caps and gowns. Determination is based on a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher as of Winter Quarter 2014.

Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society regalia, which includes a tassel and a stole, are initially given at induction. If you were inducted last year and still need your stole, please go to the Transfer Advising Center in Building 1, Room 1220J at the same time you pick up your cap and gown.

Cap and Gown Distribution

Cap and gown distribution will be June 3-5, 2014.

On June 3 and 4, distribution will be facilitated by our vendor. This is an opportune time to ask our vendor questions regarding caps and gowns. After June 4, caps and gowns will be available for pickup at the Student Activities office in the Lair (Building 06, Room 0125) during normal business hours.

If you have questions about petitioning for graduation, please contact the Transcripts office at (509) 533-8693.

If you have questions about the commencement ceremonies, please call (509) 533-8657 or email

Student Housing

SCC has no on-campus housing. Student Activities (509.533.8657) has maintained a listing of off-campus housing options for students, but are not currently providing that service. We are in the process of examining the usefulness and feasibility of this service to both students and renters. Please contact us at to share your thoughts. Thank you.
