Emergency Services
Food Bank
The Associated Student Council (ASC) sponsors a campus emergency Food Bank and
resource center to assist students in need. The Food Bank is located on the first floor of the Lair Student
Center within the student government
offices (Room 06-0115). Money allocated from ASC funds is used
to purchase a variety of food items at a bulk rate from the Spokane Food Bank and
that supply is supplemented with food and/or money contributed by SCC students, faculty, staff,
clubs, and classes. Quarterly hours are posted on the door, and services are available
to all SCC students who need emergency assistance. After completing minor paperwork, this service allows students to
request emergency food three times per quarter. ALL INFORMATION IS KEPT STRICTLY
CONFIDENTIAL. The Food Bank also provides listings of other local
emergency services. Donations are gladly accepted and appreciated.

Thanksgiving Baskets
Each year at Thanksgiving, the Associated Student Council puts together baskets of food for SCC students and
their families who are in need. The baskets contain turkey gift certificates and trimmings for a Thanksgiving
meal. Sign-ups for the Thanksgiving Baskets normally begin in October and are on a first-come, first-served
basis.
Tree of Sharing
The Associated Student Council began sponsoring the Tree of Sharing over a decade ago, to assist SCC students
who might not otherwise be able to afford holiday gifts for their families. Gifts for the Tree of Sharing are
donated by SCC students, faculty, staff, and administration, as well as various SCC clubs and organizations.
Sign-ups for the Tree of Sharing are held in November of each year in order for students to pick up gifts for
their children by the last day of fall quarter. Any questions regarding the Tree of Sharing should be
