President's Welcome

We are in the business of helping you change your life.
Spokane Community College is a comprehensive educational institution meeting the needs of students and business
and industry throughout the region. We provide transfer degrees and the opportunity to continue your education
by transferring those degrees to a four-year institution; or, if you prefer, we have over sixty career and
technical degree and certificate programs to prepare you for the world of work. Even if you may not be sure
exactly what you want to do, I would encourage you to speak with a counselor or faculty member to help you
examine your educational options.
As you examine your options, please pay particular attention to the value we offer...we are the most
cost-effective option available. Whether you are seeking one course, a certificate, a degree, or personal
enrichment through continuing education, I think you will be pleased with the array of educational offerings
available to you at SCC. Although we are cost-effective, we clearly recognize the need to provide financial
aid. Many of our students have taken advantage of that resource.
All the information to apply for admission, select a program, or apply for financial aid begins on our home
page with one click of the mouse.
If you choose to become a student at SCC, you will become part of a uniquely American invention. Today there
are over 1,200 community colleges within the United States which provide affordable and accessible high-quality
education without students having to leave their community.
The SCC campus community is proud of its recent accomplishments. New programs starting this fall include a
Center for Entrepreneurship, Vascular Technology, and Massage Therapy. Whether you are interested in careers
in Math, Science, English, Engineering, Health Care, Business and Service Industries, Construction or
Manufacturing Trades - or one of our many other programs - please join our campus community in its pursuit of
educational excellence. Spokane Community College's number one goal is to offer learning-centered, quality
instruction.
I am pleased that you have taken the time to seek us out, and hope you have found the information you were
looking for.
Joe Dunlap, Ed.D.
