Borrowing Privileges
Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College share a library catalog. Current student ID cards can be used to check out materials from both libraries. Residents of the city or county of Spokane who are not community college students may apply for a guest library card that is valid at both community colleges.

Loan Periods: Books in the general collection are checked out for three weeks; back issues of periodicals may be borrowed for two weeks. Overdue fines are $0.25 per item per day.

Renewals: For most materials you may request a one-time renewal by phone at 533-8255 or in person. You may also renew materials yourself using the online library catalog (click on the Renew Books button at the top of the screen).

Videos: Both VHS and DVD videos are available for viewing in the Library.

Group Study Rooms
There are a number of group study rooms available in the Library which accommodate two or more people. They all are equipped with whiteboards. Arrangements to use the rooms may be made at the Library's Check Out Desk. Additional study rooms are available in the Instructional Media Lab.

Information Resources
The Library primarily purchases materials that support courses and programs offered at SCC. The print collection includes books and periodicals that support both liberal arts and vocational/technical subject areas. Also, a wide selection of subscription databases and links to recommended websites can be accessed via the Library's website.

Interlibrary Loans
Using the WIN Borrow feature of the library catalog, registered students, faculty and staff can request materials from Whitworth University and Gonzaga University. Requested materials can be picked up at any of the participating libraries. Turnaround time will vary.

The Library is also able to borrow materials from other libraries in Spokane and outside the area. If you need this service, contact the Reference Desk at 533-8821. It is also possible to submit an online interlibrary loan request. Keep in mind that it may take ten days to two weeks for materials to arrive. This service is only available for Community Colleges of Spokane students and employees.

Library Instruction
SCC faculty librarians teach a variety of classes on how to use the Library. These sessions are tailored to assignments in specific courses and are conducted at the request of instructors. Librarians are also available to instruct students on an individual basis regarding research methods. For more information on library instruction, contact the Reference Desk by calling 533-8821 or by emailing reference@scc.spokane.edu.

Printing and Photocopying
There are two printers available in the Library for student use. You must be a currently registered SCC student in order to print. A color printer is also available for student use; color prints are $.20 per page.

Wireless
SCC's Wireless Café is accessible throughout the Library. Students with laptop computers can access the Internet through a web browser. For further information please contact the Library by calling 533-8821 or by emailing reference@scc.spokane.edu.
