HVAC/R
Instructors
Steve Sherman is one of the instructors and he is also a graduate of the program. He comments,
"We emphasize hands-on learning and that's the nature of the trade."
Sherman is an experienced teacher that has worked in the field for two decades. He takes great satisfaction in his role. "The quarter
starts with blank faces, and then the eyes start to light up as we cover the material and they begin to learn and become confident
with their newly acquired skills."
Instructor Travis Green echoes that sentiment: "I love watching
the students transition from classroom training to the lab. They get to immediately apply the skills and knowledge they learn on
a daily basis. Our lab facilities are truly unique. We have a great mixture of brand new cutting edge technology, as well as the
types of older equipment they will see in the field. Hands-on experience really gives the students an opportunity to learn by
doing."

"The SCC HVAC/R program is one of the most comprehensive and best in the region. They do
an excellent job at training students to enter the field."
- Jim Barnet, Ruud/Reem technical advisor
Building on its reputation, the HVAC program now features a new computer lab, new software, and the latest training equipment.
