William D. Ford Direct Loan Program
A loan is a type of financial aid that you repay. You may apply for your Direct Loan online. Start by selecting
the Student Loans or Parent Loans tab below and follow the directions. After you complete all the steps and become
eligible you can check your loan status by clicking the appropriate tab above.
Exit Counseling
If you have received a student loan to help finance your education at Spokane Community College, the federal financial
aid regulations require us to provide you with exit counseling information about your loan. Exit counseling should be
completed prior to your leaving SCC.
Exit counseling is located at the www.studentloans.gov
website. Once you enter the site, click on "Exit Counseling" under the "Tools and Resources" section. This takes you
directly to the NSLDS website.
You will need to use your federal Dept. of Education PIN to complete the exit counseling. If you have forgotten your
PIN, you can request a duplicate at www.pin.ed.gov.
Exit counseling will provide you with information regarding:
- Total Direct Loans you have borrowed and your payment schedule
- Payment options – estimated monthly payments, payment days
- Transferring to another school
- Other student loans you have borrowed
- Loan consolidation, deferment, and cancellation
- Debt management and the consequences of defaulting
- The address and telephone number of your Direct Loan Servicing Center
- Other agencies that may help you as a loan borrower
You must successfully pass the quiz in order to be given credit for completing the exit interview. We will receive
a list of those borrowers who successfully complete their exit interviews.
