Counseling Center
Spokane Community College's counselors are faculty professionals holding Master's degrees in counseling/guidance. We
are here to provide support and direction as you pursue your educational goals. As a group we share common beliefs,
but as individuals we may go about assisting you in slightly different ways. We recognize that counseling is learning,
and that real learning occurs when both the student and the counselor are fully involved in a responsible way. The
counselor's role as a counselor and a teacher is to provide support and direction, so you may learn how to become
responsible for your learning and your personal growth. We are firmly committed to your success, and we will support
your efforts to the best of our ability.
Counselors will provide short-term counseling for a variety of problems; however, if the problem is of an intense
psychological nature, or if it is organic in origin, the counselor will refer you to an appropriate agency outside of
Spokane Community College.
If you would like to speak
with a mental health counselor for a longer period of time, SCC also has student interns from local universities
who can help.
