Cosmetology
Instructors
Gerri Allen is an Instructional Technician. She graduated with an A.A.S. and was licensed at SCC (1973). She is
licensed in cosmetology (as an instructor), barbering, manicuring, and esthetics. Her focus is on haircutting and perms. Gerri is
also certified in So. Cap Hair Extensions.

Sylvia Garcia holds a Washington vocation teaching certificate and instructor licenses for cosmetology, barbering,
manicuring, and esthetics. Sylvia is Department Chair. She graduated with an A.A.S. and was licensed at SCC (1980). In addition, she has an Instructor Training
Certificate from Dudley's Advance Training Academy, a Dermologica Certificate, an NSI Certificate, and a Look Good Feel Good Certificate.
She has worked with cancer patients at the Positive Image Center and is trained in various hair color arts. Sylvia is also certified
in So. Cap Hair Extensions.

Kelly Malcolm is licensed in manicuring and esthetics. She studied at Gloria's School of Beauty in Seattle. She
teaches airbrushing techniques as well as use of gel, fiberglass, tips, and acrylics. Kelly also has a BA in education.

Cindy Martinez is an adjunct instructor for the evening and Saturday Cosmetology program. She graduated from Marc Su School of Beauty in Coeur d'Alene.
She holds her instructor's license in Idaho and Washington. She owned and operated her own 6-station shop for 14 years. Cindy has
been licensed for 26 years, and is an educator for Redken and a previous color line. She currently has an in-home salon. Ms. Martinez
is trained in the So. Cap Hair Extension line.

Patricia Maxfield has been working in the industry for more than 25 years,
barbering for the first 5 years then acquiring an A.A.S. in Cosmetology in 1982. In 1989, she completed her cadet teaching training
along with her vocational certification and has been continuously licensed, practicing and teaching in Washington state, holding
endorsements in barbering, cosmetology, manicuring, and esthetics. Patricia is also certified in So. Cap Hair Extensions.

Kerri Moore graduated from an esthetics program and was licensed in Seattle at Gene Juarez. She has 13 years
experience as a cosmetology and esthetics instructor and operator.

Deanna Pixley holds her Instructor's License in Cosmetology, Manicuring, Esthetics, and Barbering. She graduated
from SCC and received her A.A.S. degree. She has been trained in So. Cap Hair Extensions. She also has advanced training in color
and haircutting. She has owned and operated her own salon in the Spokane area for 7 years.

Machelle Rzepka is a Program Assistant who also holds a Washington instructor's license as well as manicuring
and esthetics licenses in Washington and California. She was licensed in California at an R.O.P. and at Golden West College
(Huntington Beach, CA). Machelle graduated from SCC's instructor program in 1998. She works hand-in-hand with the instructors
and at the front desk, and she can also fill in as a substitute instructor for skin care and nails. Machelle encourages you

Lesley Turk holds all licenses or endorsements in cosmetology,
barbering, manicuring, and esthetics. She has a Community and Technical Colleges Vocational Technical Education Certificate from
the State of Washington and certificates in the different areas of skin, Advance Aesthetics (Spanish Forks, Utah) and the
International Dermal Institute, and hair from Redken of New York. Lesley has taught at SCC since 1989; prior to that, she
worked in industry and taught in a private cosmetology college. She is a member of the Look Good Feel Better program. Leslie is
currently certified in the So. Cap Hair Extension line.

Mary Tavluian is the current evening Program Assistant. She graduated from SCC in 2007 and is a
Washington State Esthetician. She is available at SCC Cosmetology evenings and Saturdays almost year-round.
