Program Description
This program prepares students for office positions in which the primary duties are preforming general legal office work; greeting,
scheduling and routing legal clients; and answering the telephone. After completing this program, students may choose to take additional
courses for an advanced certificate or degree in the legal administrative assistant field.
Average length of program
This is a three-quarter program designed especially for students who desire brief training for employment in a receptionist capacity with
a law firm or law-related office.
Students who successfully complete this program have:
- the ability to operate multiline telephone system and take effective messages;
- the ability to correctly spell, pronounce, and use legal terms;
- the ability to write accurately;
- an understanding of various office forms and documents;
- the ability to operate office machines, including computers, printers, automatic typewriters, and copying machines; and
- entry-level competence and knowledge of telephone systems, word processing and personal computers.
