office. A legal information processor operates disk-controlled computer equipment and performs general information processing duties, including
transcribing and formatting legal documents and business correspondence, typing and proofreading manuscripts, tables, reports, and other documents
from dictating machines or rough drafts, correcting errors in existing documents, and consulting with persons initiating job requests. (Requires 40

Program Description
A legal information processor's primary duties include operating disk-controlled computer equipment and performing general information processing
duties, including transcribing and formatting legal documents and business correspondence, typing and proofreading manuscripts, tables, reports,
and other documents from dictating machines or rough drafts, correcting errors in existing documents, and consulting with persons initiating job requests.
Average length of program
This is a four-quarter program designed especially for students who desire brief training for employment in a legal information processing capacity
with a law firm or law-related office.
Students who successfully complete this program are prepared to:
- an extensive and varied knowledge of legal terminology;
- an extensive and varied knowledge of legal formatting;
- an extensive and varied knowledge of word processing;
- extensive training in all aspects of communications (vocabulary, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and composition); and
- experience in transcribing legal documents, letters, memos, agendas, and reports using transcribing machines and computers.
