Financial Aid will not cover the entire cost of the line construction program

Priority Deadline:
   Summer 2013 - April 19, 2013

If you qualify for grant aid, the maximum amounts you may expect to receive will be:

  • Pell Grant: $3,146.00

If you wish to apply for student loans, the maximum you may receive will be:

  • $3,110.00 - Dependent student (parents' information on FAFSA)
  • $5,383.00 - Independent student

As you can see, if you don't qualify for grant funds, the amount of money you can borrow under the Federal Direct Loan program is very limited.

You will need to apply for financial aid before you know if you are accepted into the line construction program.

There are different FAFSA versions available online:

  • The application is free to complete and should be done as early as possible. You will need to complete the 2013-2014 FAFSA if you are planning on attending the line construction class beginning summer 2013 or winter 2014.
  • You will need to list SCC's school code - 003793 - under "schools you plan on attending."

It can take six weeks or more to determine your eligibility for financial aid, files are processed by SCC financial aid in date order received.

The financial aid process:

  • Once your FAFSA is processed by the U.S. Department of Education, our institution will receive notification.
  • We will send you an email (to the address listed on your FAFSA) requesting additional documentation. There will always be additional documentation.
  • You will need to complete and return those forms to the Financial Aid office at Spokane Community College by the priority deadline listed above.
  • Once this process is complete, you will be notified by mail of your eligibility for aid along with additional options you may have.

You may check your financial aid status online at any time, please visit our Financial Aid Portal.

Your parents can apply to receive a Federal PLUS loan to help cover your tuition.

Note: If the parent of a dependent student applies for a Federal PLUS loan and is denied, the student may then borrow an additional unsubsidized loan. This will increase the student's total loan eligibility to $5,383.00.

**PLEASE NOTE: Because of FERPA regulations, it is very important that the students themselves contact our office and/or complete the FAFSA application and any additional paperwork required when applying for financial aid. If students wish to have information disclosed to any other person, they will need to complete and submit a CCS AUTHORIZATION TO RELEASE FINANCIAL INFORMATION form .
