
12. Balancing Crankshaft
Critical thinking is vital in any automotive machine shop. Here a crankshaft is being balanced. Students will balance all the components of
a complete engine. This includes both the rotating and the reciprocating ends of the rods, pistons and pins, rings, and bearings. The student
will calculate and install bob weights onto the crankshaft. After balancing the crankshaft, he will add the damper and flex plate or flywheel
and balance them. If the engine uses a clutch and pressure plate assembly, that will be balanced.
