11.  Rod Reconditioning

Connecting rod reconditioning is a very critical area of machine work in any automotive machine shop. In this picture, a student prepares to hone the connecting rod bores. Precision is not difficult to accomplish using the dial bore gauge, which is accurate to 1/10,000th of an inch. Students in the program also recondition the pin end of the connecting rods.
