Automotive Machinist
Career Opportunities in Automotive Technology
Automotive machinists are employed by production engine remanufacturers, custom rebuilders, jobber shops, and auto parts supply houses
with machine shop services. Employment opportunities will increase in future years due to the number of automobiles being manufactured
and repaired. Independent and dealership repair shops remove and replace worn engine components with new or rebuilt parts. Rather than
emanufacturing the worn units themselves, they typically send them to machine shops for reconditioning, which is easier and more
profitable. The employment outlook for an automotive machinist is excellent.
